Stephen Brook: Rich, firm, oaky nose, apricot fruit slightly concealed by the wood at present. Rich, sleek, discreet, not overblown, with all the emphasis on a taut structure and exemplary acidity, which is remarkable for 2003. Concentrated but not showy, but very stylish and fairly long. Yet it does lack the length of the best vintages from Climens. 17.5
Michael Schuster: Mid-gold; closed, waxy, almost slightly roasted in character; very rich, full, and concentrated but with a good balancing acidity too; intensely sweet, unctuously textured without being heavy, very long and racy to taste with an understated tenacity of flavor, marked spicy complexity, a very clear, subtle minerality under the sweetness, great clarity and definition of taste, and enormous aromatic persistence. A great Climens in a weighty year, the characteristic “fat” is there, but no lack of definition and finesse. Needs years to begin to open up. From 2015. 19+
