Michael Schuster: That floral/herbal Merlot character on the nose; moderately rich, medium-full wine, very fine-textured, fresh in acidity; sweetly ripe, subtly mineral-backed, long, complex, graceful, and gently racy, a really beautiful St-Emilion. Not quite the density or opulence of the splendid 2015, which is more generous and immediately seductive, but close in quality, if different in style. In any case this is the third in a great trio from this estate: 2014, ’15, and ‘16. 2025–40+. 93–94
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Following on the footsteps of the mythical 1955, with a perfect satin-covered chalky grain and an elegant light saline finish. This is truly well-infused tannin. 96
