Michael Schuster: Dense, black-fruit Cabernet nose, with a light but distinct minerality; rich, vital, concentrated, firm but very fine in tannin, an excellent constitution; sweetly ripe, a perfectly integrated brisk acidity, a long and close-grained palate, sapid, mineral, refined, and persistent. Complexity, length, perfume, and purity, a fine Margaux, a complete and clear 2nd-growth performance. The finest Durfort for some time. The low yield (37hl/ha), a consequence of biodynamic practices in the sodden early part of the vegetative cycle, must have something to do with it, as well as the prolonged harvest, finishing on November 1. Whatever the reasons, this is a splendid Durfort. 2028–40+. 92–94
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, a biodynamic certification rewarding years of reconversion, and a true success! Rare and moving floral nose, upright body, intense, tannins a little less refined than Brane’s but perfectly integrated, and great length. It is necessary to know to respect its strength, but also its weakness (a slight oxidative tendency) at the time of bottling. 96–97
