Michael Schuster: All subtle perfume to smell, and very mineral alongside the raspberry ripeness; rich and generous, Burgundian in its subtlety and ease, full, very finely tannic, and so fresh; transparent, subtle-textured, effortlessly easy wine, freshly sweet in fruit, but the fruit is less what matters than the complexity and abundance of aromas, the warp and weft of aromatic energy that make you wonder as its scents continue to suffuse your palate; a great intensity of flavor, but Mozartian in its clarity, transparency, grace. Plus, of course, a terrific aromatic persistence. Very Lafleur, very 2016, a great, a wonderful wine. 2030–50+. 97–99
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Absolute purity on the nose, with a fresh array of fruit and flowers, exceptionally precise tannins in the mouth, a suavity upheld by a tension of the Cabernet Franc. An impression of intangibility, of spirituality. 98–99
