Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. Dark, plummy, and relatively alluring: a good effort. Some tobacco and incense spice behind. Moderate concentration, but attractive poised ripeness and length. Balanced, supple tannins, choice fruit with some purity. A very good effort for the vintage, lots to enjoy over the next few years. Now to 2020. 85
Michael Schuster: Red-fruit and mineral to smell; light to medium-full, fresh to brisk in acidity, quite firm in tannin; chewy, red-fruit claret, not bad, but too austere for many modern palates; modest complexity and length. Fine with food, but hardly “I want another glass” appeal! Now to 2024. 86
