Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Chunky black fruits and a sense of wet clay behind; some elderberry, too. Poujeaux in woodland style this year. Deep, vivid, lively, pure: a sense of woodland shade here, too, but no green tones, just the briskness and the minor key. Nothing clumsy, and better depth than most. There are palpable, fine-grained tannins to lend support, and plenty of fruit penetration: excellent work this difficult year. Now to 2020. 88
Michael Schuster: A touch of richness to smell on the nose, and to taste, too; medium-full, a nice gentle concentration for the vintage, a fresh acidity and a very light tannin texture, but this has a bit of complexity across the palate, and a some aromatic length on the finish, too. A ripe, gently juicy, gently sappy, and satisfying 2013. Now to 2025. 86
