Roy Hersh: Slightly darker and more opaque than the Graham’s. Before the tasting took place, Don asked me to assess the first of three bottles, which he thought faulty. It was definitely corked, so not poured. Nose of marionberry, herbs, and fennel. Great purity of dark plum and sultana flavors, with dusty, fully resolved tannins. Something was not perfectly right with this bottle either, but I did not detect any TCA, and nearly an hour later none was apparent. This showed a lighter-than-usual weight and was more on the elegant side of the spectrum, which is out of character for 1977 Taylor’s. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable and delivered a succulent, soft, and well-rounded finish.
