Roy Hersh: Unfortunately, I did not write down the appearance of this wine. My fourth time trying this excellent Port, and it rivals the best of the prior three bottles tasted, being as remarkable as other top Cockburn’s vintages such as 1908 and 1912. An expansive essence of buttered cinnamon-raisin toast, treacle, a faint whiff of aguardente, clove, and crème brûlée. It delivered a viscous, creamy consistency, exceptionally concentrated and poised, with balancing acidity and packed with penetrating flavors of loganberry, marzipan, dried fig, and Christmas cake, with a long, opulent aftertaste. A hedonistic standout bottle reminiscent of the age and house style of the 1947 Cockburn’s served earlier today. Thirty thousand cases produced.
