Roy Hersh: A Whitwham’s bottling and a Port that I’ve enjoyed on more than a handful of occasions over the past few decades. Light pink-ruby optic, with a tawny-amber edge. Light to medium-bodied initially, but it gained weight as it remained in glass. Generous strawberry, date, and fruitcake flavors are lively and delicious. The mid-palate was soft in its texture, intricate and delicate, and the finish infused with lingering sweet caramel and chocolate-milkshake flavors. A harmonious Taylor 1927, albeit lighter and more evolved than most of the previous renditions. Best bottles would have competed competently with the prior two Ports.
