Harmonious palate, more opulent, deeper, richer, and more tannic than the Clos de la Roche. Very ripe fruit and a fairly light winemaking hand. Good acidity, good length, and a fine mineral finish. (Winemaker Gregory Patriat is a Stelvin enthusiast. Encouraged by a tasting of 1964 Nuits-St-Georges and 1966 Mercurey under screwcap, he believes that Burgundy ages better that way and that the switch away from cork should be led by the top-of-the-range wine. .
