Jesús Barquín: Bright pale yellow. Pungent nose, with characteristic aroma locally known as chero, typical of, though not exclusive to, Finos from El Puerto. Aromas are mirrored by the palate, which is fresh, I guess due to acetaldehyde. Long and not devoid of personality, though a little monolithic. 89
Andrew Jefford: Limpid clear green-gold. Some pine and menthol notes here for some reason. Slightly odd. That minty pine resin lingers on the palate, too, as if a barrel of retsina had somehow got into the solera at some stage. A puzzle to account for, but it is only a tone among many, and basically this is sound, bready Manzanilla in good fresh shape. Nice umami aftertastes. 85
Peter Liem: This is nutty and a little oxidative, and it lacks complexity and dimension on the palate. There’s a plastic tone on the finish that feels artificial. 78
