BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Mature ruby; a very earthy, beef-extract and farmyardy nose; a bit coarse by comparison with the 1978; nicely balanced at a lower level, with fresh, fairly ripe fruit but not much in the way of tenacity, complexity, or length, and with rather piquant tannins for the amount of fruit; on the way to drying out. Will keep but not improve. Now nowhere near the harmony of the 1981. Drink. 14.5/15?
