Stephen Brook: Opaque red. Rich, sweet nose, rather baked; espresso, plums, and licorice. Very rich, sumptuous, and plummy. Merlot to the fore, but a lot of tannin, too—indeed, quite chewy. Fresher than the nose but lacks some zest; the acidity is modest, and there’s a trace of bitter chocolate; medium length. Pomerol, and not far from the plateau. 16
Andrew Jefford: Deep, still some opacity. Deep and oaky. Spicy. Good fruit behind; complex and close-grained. Some meatiness. Dark, forceful, and thrusting, with lots of chewy depth. Wonderful ringing intensity of fruit, too. Vivid acidity; lots of dark chocolate behind the deep plums, but some incipient savoriness overall, too. Again, seems very St-Emilion côte, but also a modern style. Angélus? Troplong Mondot? 16
Hugh Johnson: Edge-to-edge deep, not dense. Fresh, minty, green note, with suggestion of much more. Some oak. Still tight and young, acidity prominent. Plays on one level; no great depth, good length. 15
