Simon Field: Lighter of color than some, with a rather vinous, almost resinous nose, while still quite fiery and taut on the palate. Its fighting spirit is to be applauded, its firm acidity equally commendable. But, ultimately, it lacks the harmony of a great example. 15

Richard Mayson: Mid amber-tawny. Quite rich, fruit-driven aromas with some lovely savory complexity. Rich on the palate but also quite spirity and a little disjointed, with burn on the finish. 13.5

Margaret Rand: Pungent, complex, powerful; more wit than the Niepoort 20yo; elegant, lively, very fine indeed. Enormous length. A wine to lift the spirits and enliven the conversation. Superb. 18
