Jesús Barquín:Ruby red with a brown-amber rim. Stewed figs and a vegetal touch are dominating the first approach to the aromas, then some alcohol and spiciness. Balanced sweetness on the palate, a little rustic but quite expressive in the finish, which is, however, a tad too hot. 92
Andrew Jefford:Deeper-hued than the 20 Year Old norm, glowing russet red. Earthy and just a little stewy, but satisfying nonetheless, and a league or two beyond mere sweetness. On the palate, too, this is very napped and creamy and unctuous and motherly, but there is a terrific weight of flavor here, and it is very clean and wellstewarded, delivering all of the secondary complexities and primary sweetnesses with admirable generosity. Big Bertha Tawny, but quite delicious! It doesn’t have the donnish refinement of some of the other top-scorers in the class, but more than makes up in terms of amplitude and open-heartedness. 92
Richard Mayson:Brick-red core grading to tawny rim; milkchocolate richness on the nose, soft and creamy in style with lovely sweet fruit and a dusting of spicy tannin keeping the wine alive all the way through to the finish. Well balanced. 90
