Jesús Barquín:Light amber-red. A first bottle looks cloudy, with performance on the nose marked by medicinal and dusty aromas. A second one is cleaner. Not very expressive, but more interesting palate, with candied-fruit flavors and spicy notes. The finish is balanced and complex, also a tad hot. 90
Andrew Jefford:Bottle 2: A true Tawny in color, with a little browning at the rim and russet at the heart. Sweet and suggestive scents, quite secondary in style, with some cigar-leaf and humus refinement. On the palate, this is a slightly less generous and excitingly fruited wine than the best of its peers, but it expresses the secondary complexities of the style very well, and the sweetness is therefore balanced and qualified. A refined choice. 88
Richard Mayson:First sample very different from the second; lovely brick-red to amber-tawny color; gentle savory character, though slightly hollow and attenuated on the nose, similarly refined in style on the palate, some lovely nutty complexity midpalate leading to a rather dried-out finish. 84
