BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane:Excellent color, intense nose in a more fruity style than Comtesse; big body, excellent texture, ripe tannins, excellent finish, with even, menthol-like freshness in the aftertaste; generous and harmonious. 18

Thierry Desseauve:Perfect Pauillac with tobacco and cedar flavors, highly intense structure, ripe tannin, and very deep length; huge potential for aging. Pichon Baron at its very best. 18.5

Michael Schuster:Dense and closed but with a clear cassis emerging; rich, firm, elegantly balanced, concentrated wine; firm, linear style with less fat and more sinew than the Pichon Lalande; close-grained, sweet-cored, mineral-drenched flavor; long, powerful, complex, and very persistent. A fine expression of Pauillac, of Cabernet Sauvignon, and of the refined side of the firm 2006 vintage. Needs 10–12 years in bottle. 2022–35+. 18
