BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane:Good dark color, some black-chocolate undertones, ripe classic tannins. Well made, more complex than Sociando, no excessive tannins; no-nonsense style. 16

Thierry Desseauve:By far the best of the Haut-Médoc wines, because of its excellent combination of a soft fleshiness and a fine and tense structure. The nose combines oaky notes and red-fruit aromas, and the wine is long and harmonious, with a certain generosity in alcohol. 16.5

Michael Schuster:Fine, closed, cedary nose; firmly tannic, fairly concentrated in a fine rectilinear balance; taut, fine, crisply ripe fruit here, gravel-infused, raw blackcurrant Cabernet; close-grained, aromatic, long. Fine long-term La Lagune, which will need a decade more, at least, in bottle. 2018–30. 16.5
