Michael Schuster: Very ripe fruit on the nose—seductive! And that sweetly ripe fruit there on the palate, too, but rapidly gripped in dry texture by the amount of new wood, which then detracts from that attractively ripe core fruit. Moderately complex, and clearly good-quality fruit, but grippy on the palate and shortened on the finish by its wood tannin. Good base wine, marred by the winemaking? Certainly not to my taste. Will need plenty of time to mellow, though unlikely to harmonize—or you accept that dry texture as part of the experience. 2018–28? 15?
