Michel Bettane: Golden color; the beginning of oxidation, which underlines heaviness. The difficulties of the vintage are evident in this sample 14

Thierry Desseauve: Gold color, large volume, but tired and tiring style 14

Michael Schuster: Deepish gold; dumb as yet, with just a hint of its oak barrels and a touch of volatility; rich, full, concentrated, intensely sweet wine, all within a marked, vigorous acidity; unctuous in texture without being heavy; longish to taste and with a gently spicy botrytis aftertaste, though the finish seems a bit abrupt after the intensity of the mid-palate. Characteristically weightier, low-yield Barsac. Not a lot of subtlety, more foursquare than I remember it. Sinew and intensity rather than class? Good, though. Now–2030 16.5 /17
