Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Big, anise nose with rich, complex notes of roasted fruit – a return to the classy botrytized style, feel and length of a wine that deserves the name Sauternes! 16

Michael Schuster: Turbid gold; dense, zesty, complex lemon, honey and mineral nose; vivid balance, concentrated, sweet, and with a marked, racy, lemony acidity; elegant, complex, and sapid, with marked, citrussy, botrytis-spiced length. Notwithstanding its intensity, this remains very Barsac in its freshness and finesse. Lovely wine with superb definition, a real thoroughbred from a tiny yield of under 4hl/ha! 2015–30+. 17.5/18
