Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Stewed aromas, cherry pie. Medium-bodied, quite sleek, moderately concentrated, a touch fresher than the nose, but the tannins are fierce and there is little St-Julien finesse here. Medium length and a dry finish. Don’t see much future for this. 12

Stephen Browett: Deepish color. Chunky, powerful black fruit nose. Impressive depth here, with an almost prune-like intensity. Thick and opulent but well balanced, too. There is an impressively dense mid-palate full of roast coffee, cassis, and spice. Powerful yet not at all clumsy. A superb effort that rivals the second growths. 16.5

Michael Schuster: Dark red; scented, blackcurrant Cabernet nose in prospect; fairly concentrated middleweight, very firm tannins; crisp blackcurrant Cabernet flavor, with both ripe fruit and a clear minerality; some complexity and good fruit-cored length as well. From 2014. 15.5
