Stephen Browett: Deep color with just a little fade. Big and brooding on the nose with black fruits. Very impressive on the palate with dense but opulent cassis fruit. Almost drinkable already it seems, but behind the satin-textured mid-palate there is hidden power and a really long finish. The low acidity and plush texture make this a hard-to-resist wine.18.5
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Lovely, sensual flesh and truffle. Meaty warmth; almost pheromonal. Huge wealth and width. Lots of power and depth; great long-haul, but is the complexity and grain there? Can’t argue with width, though... Drinking 10+ years.
Michael Schuster: Dark red, brick-rimmed; intense, ripe red fruit to smell; concentrated middleweight wine with the characteristically firm 2003 tannin, but fine textured, and with adequate acidity; ripe, delicate, mineral-backed fresh red fruit flavor, long across the palate, with real scope and dimension; long and scented to finish. Richness, delicacy, freshness, and typically excellent, sweet-fruited, fragrant length. All with the noticeably “warm” character of the year. From 2018. 18.5/19
