Stephen Brook: Very deep red, almost opaque. Muted nose, plums and fruitcake. Rich, solid, plump, but with robust tannins that rather dominate the fruit. Modest acidity but enough to keep it lively on the mid-palate. But overall it’s quite chunky and lacks lift; it’s dogged for Chauvin, and not very long. Dry finish. 14

Stephen Browett: Rich new oak nose. Plump, plush, and modern with some nice red cherry fruit. Sweet, attractive, fleshy and forward it will give early drinking pleasure. Maybe a touch too oaky for the fruit. 14.5

Michael Schuster: Very dark red; very new oak-dominated nose; palate completely parched by an excess of new wood, what light fruit there is drowned in astringency. Short and tough and charmless. 10
