Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Dense nose, plums, oak, tobacco. Quite rich though medium-bodied, reasonable concentration and grip, modest acidity. It’s a bit extracted but at least has some vigor and bite. No flab here, and quite good length. 16
Michael Schuster: Dark red; very toasty, oak-cedary nose; fine quality, richly ripe fruit rather gripped by its oak tannins; both ripe and fresh in the vintage, a quite lovely juicy fruit here, complex and fine, and long across the palate, so that it is a great pity that this quality is marred by an excess of new oak tannin, which will not be absorbed over time; good, scented length. Superb fruit marred by too much new wood. What a pity, this is clearly a wonderful terroir, and splendid primary matter. But this will always be “dry.” 16
