Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Lovely refined texture, very open and pure red fruits, fresh and soaring, with a fine and precise tannic structure. In short, an archetypal Cheval, not massive, but brilliant and distinguished. 18/18.5

Michael Schuster: Fresh, finely scented, spicy Cabernet Franc-dominated nose; delightfully balanced, very elegant, medium-full Cheval Blanc with a superfine textured tannin; long, sweetly ripe, fresh, refined, and racy flavor with a wonderful palate-caressing fragrance; fine, graceful, delicate, but in no sense weak, and with great scented length. This is a wine that is all about perfume, not the grand, fleshy Cheval of 1990 or 1998, but with all the subtle, scented qualities that we value so in the best grand cru Burgundy. A really lovely wine. 2015–30. 18/18.5
