BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Turbid dark gold; dense, dumb, waxy, less Sauvignon in aroma than usual; very rich, yet with a well balanced, defining acidity; intensely sweet, with a marked, roasted spice, noble rot flavor; long and generous, powerful and with excellent length. Not quite the Sauvignon freshness of style I associate with the property, but a fine Guiraud. 2012–30+. 16.5/17
