BUY THE WINE

John Gilman: Like many of its neighbors, Larrivet Haut-Brion has produced a very stylish and forward white wine in 2010, with enough acidity to carry the wine a half-dozen years or more but probably no further. The wine offers up a ripe and complex aromatic melange of figs, pink grapefruit, apple, petrol tones, chalky soil, and vanillin oak. On the palate, the wine is deep, full, and quite broad on the attack, with lovely framing acids, fine focus, a good core of ripe fruit, and very nice length and grip on the suave and slightly soft finish. A quite good result in this vintage. 2011–20. 16
