Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: An expressive nose with hints of malt; velvety texture, full-bodied, and long; very well made, with good balance, if slightly less concentrated than some of its peers. 16/17
John Gilman: I have been rather mystified by the recent vintages of red wines at Fieuzal, and the 2010 will certainly not shed any light on exactly what they are trying to do here. The modern and boring nose offers up scents of cigar ash, black cherries, cassis, and plenty of new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, foursquare, and spit-polished, with a dip in the mid-palate and quite a bit of astringent tannin currently drying out the finish. 9.5?
Michael Schuster: Half the usual amount of Merlot and much more Cabernet Sauvignon. Rich, ample, firmly tannic wine, well constituted in a very firm style, with a vigorous acidity and abundant ripe, juicy fruit; long, complex and complete to taste; an unusually muscular, robust vin de garde style for the vineyard and the commune. A touch of the Right Bank in character—looks good but long term! 2020–30+. 16.5/17+
