BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane: Dark color, rich velvety round texture, cedary tannins, excellent body and balance; true-to-type St-Julien. 17

Thierry Desseauve: Dark and luminous color; black and blue berry, cigar box, sculptured body with an edgy and delicate structure; smoothness, intensity, depth. Great wine. 18

Michael Schuster: Ripe blackberry fruit, and subtle mineral nose; nicely balanced middleweight in a slightly austere mold; moderate concentration, briskly ripe fruit, some complexity; quite aromatic, and with a nice light persistence. Good, if a bit on the lean side, and it will need several years in bottle to soften. 2016–26+. 16
