Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: The characteristics of the terroir are perfectly displayed here, with notes of cedar and pencil lead; its aromatic elegance is unmatched. In the mouth, on the other hand, the wine is much more tightly wound, signaling a much slower evolution in bottle. a classic wine to be aged—we’ll come back to in 12–15 years, if there’s any left... 19

Michael Schuster: Ripe blackberry fruit hinted at on the nose; a medium-weight wine, firm in both tannin and acid; a core of briskly ripe fruit, finesse and subtlety, yes, long across the palate, and long and crisp and aromatic, almost lemony to finish; not quite the effortless quality, scope, and depth of the best Lafites of the past ten years, and some way from its 2009/10. clearly both complexity and tenacity of flavor here, but slightly hard work and certainly long term. the manager, Charles Chevalier, described it as “1980s style, very classic.” 2025–40+. 17.5
