Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Deep color; lush notes of blackberry liqueur; a powerful palate, slightly heady, in an ambitious style. the wine has potential, but it needs time in barrel to polish the edges. 17.5

Michael Schuster: heady ripe fruit on the nose; a concentrated, vigorous wine, with the characteristic, slightly oak-dry tannin; ripe and juicy, with a considerable concentration and intensity of flavor by comparison with many in the vintage; long and well defined, with the lively acidity in no way dominant, and the year’s purity and freshness very clear; a little dominated by the dry wood texture (one accepts this as part of the style) but with a long, warm, fragrant finish. an unusually powerful 2011, but the fruit finesse is there, in troplong’s very particular style. 2021–30+. 17
