Stephen Browett: Dark color. A huge, serious nose. Massive. This offers a real mouth-full of black, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. Dense but not hard. Solid but with exotic barbecue and leather flavors. Deep and compelling— there is more to be revealed here. A brooding monster that in time will gradually reveal its hidden depths. Less sexy than the Cos d’Estournel today, but which will be the greater wine in 10 years? 17
Michael Schuster: Inky color; dense, ripe, fresh, and complex to smell; rich, concentrated, elegantly muscular wine, fresh in acidity, very firm in tannin, but without coarseness, and with plenty of matter to balance the structure; dense, ripe, and gravelly in flavor, long and complex in the mouth, real aromatic presence, and excellent minerally length. Another “complete” St-Estèphe, complete claret. Will need 15 years minimum. From 2020. 17.5
