BUY THE WINE

Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Solid black cherry and blackcurrant nose, doesn’t leap from the glass. Medium-bodied, not especially concentrated, rather slack and drab, with an earthy aftertaste. Essentially simple. Lacks lift and length. 12.5

Stephen Browett: Medium deep. An attractive vanilla nose. Surprisingly forward on the palate with low acidity and medium-weight red berry fruit. Some firmer tannins on the finish but this is not a keeper. 14.5

Michael Schuster: Dark red; minerally nose; medium-full, very firmly tannic wine; modest flavor, brisk yet bland, chewiness of tannins dominates the impression in the mouth, finishes medium length. Astringency above all! Future? Need to drink with very protein-rich cheese, or very rare steak; ie plenty of the active protein required to “tame” these tannic wines on the palate! 13
