Michael Schuster: Inky; finely oaky behind abundant, ripe, spicy blackcurrant Cabernet fruit; an elegant balance that is rich and plush, with a fresh defining acidity and a tannin of great finesse; long, wonderfully ripe blackcurrant and mineral fruit, very complex and close-knit; pure, refined Cabernet Sauvignon, with great length. A splendid Cos—power, refinement, class; and though pretty powerful, in the line of recent Cos’s, this will probably be an easier drink at table than the 2005. My own palate could manage more glasses of Montrose. Needs time. 2020–35+. 17+
