BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A complex cedar aroma, a hint of leather from the slightly rustic Merlot, with an agreeable, fleshy texture, crisp, firm tannin, but less finesse than others. 16/16.5

Michael Schuster: Dense, minerally, freshly ripe nose; fairly concentrated, fresh, finely, firmly tannic; ripe, fleshy fruit flavor infused with a clear minerality, long in the mouth, ripe and complex and even, but, as so often with this wine early on (situated further inland as it is) this is on the firmer side for the vintage. Will need a good six to eight years in bottle, but then be typically satisfying. 2016–26. 15.5+
