Michael Schuster: Dense to smell with very fresh Cabernet Franc raspberry and spice; a rich and vigorous middleweight with a fine, firm tannin and a wealth of ripe red and black fruit flavors; long and gently minerally to taste with a marked Cabernet Franc perfume and a long, scented finish. Generosity, charm, fond, fruit, fragrance—an excellent Carmes, the third in a row. Didier and Caroline Furt’s daughter, Pénélope Furt-Roche, joined the château in 2005, and the wines seem to have moved up a clear notch in quality over the past three vintages. This is a particularly fine 2007, where the successful Cabernet Franc played a significant part, as with many of the best of the year. 2014–24+. 16.5
