Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Sheer silk: Ausone tannins have a feel unmatched by any other wine in the world! Depth, intensity, freshness, textbook perfection and impressive substance. 19

Michael Schuster: Black-purple; dense, mineral, ripe and black-fruit nose, subtle, clear-cut, glass-filling; a very finely balanced wine combining power with delicacy, and great purity of vividly fresh fruit within a particularly fine tannin; long across the palate, mouth-filling without being strong, and with a lovely fruit-fragrant aftertaste. A certain overall austerity suggests that this will need 10–12 years, but another very fine Ausone. 2020–45+. 18/18.5+
