BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: The most complete wine Armailhac has made recently, it has more graphite notes than Clerc Milon and is a little less full-bodied, but there’s more elegance in the tension of the wine and the way it lingers on the palate. A great future ahead. 18

Michael Schuster: Fragrant, blackberry nose; moderately, but nicely concentrated, medium-full wine with a fine-grained tannin and a fresh acidity; fresh, sweetly ripe, savory flavor of some complexity and good length; polished, fine-textured, refined, and aromatic, but without quite the excitement I had expected this year, especially after the past three vintages here. 2017–30. 15.5/16.5
