Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Muted, black-cherry nose with a slight herbaceous quality that is rather attractive. Medium weight, and doesn’t show well after the more powerful Pessac-Léognans. But the texture is creamy, there is no lack of fruit concentration and vigor, and there is some elegance. The new regime here is making an impression: The wine is balanced and has more depth than in the past. May not be as long lived as the other wines in the flight, but it has some structure and persistence. 15 Andrew Jefford: Deep red-purple. Warm and unfocussed, though there is a fruit emphasis. Lush and generously extracted, with plenty of cool, roomy depths to the wine. Lots to offer in the early years, during which drinkers will have to field the tannins; if you wait until they soften, the acidity will be overemphatic. 14
