Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Stern nose, blackcurrants, graphite; somewhat austere, but there is sweetness of fruit lurking. Quite rich, forthright, vigorous, has more Médoc assertiveness than Graves suppleness. And there is a trace of greenness that I don’t recall in previous tastings. But there’s also complexity: It’s chewy, lively, with good acidic bite and length. 15.5 Andrew Jefford: Deep, opaque red-purple. Forceful blackcurrant scents with a clinging forest darkness. Crunchy, curranty, vivid, textured, deep; earthy finish. Full ripeness, even exuberance, but in the minor key of the vintage. Works well here. Rigorous, rousing claret. 16.5
