Alex Hunt: This is a fascinating nose, marrying an evolved Amontillado-like almond tang to the verdant spring-leaf and apricot aromas of Furmint. The palate offers the same combination but less harmoniously, since the addition of insistent acidity leads the ensemble in too austere a direction. Really interesting wine but falls just short in the pleasure stakes - 16
Andrew Jefford: A full old gold in color, like an antique wedding ring. Aromatically, this is a slightly strange wine: a faint note of ash, or rotting potatoes. [No second bottle in this instance.] These are very faint hints, but they prevent the wine from smelling actively attractive, which is our universal ideal. Straightforward, simple stuff, without concentration or drama, allusiveness or seduction - 11
Mark Savage: Slightly paler amber here. Nose lacks freshness, and there is a slight chemical element detracting from the pleasure. This small flaw shows also on the palate, though less obviously, since the flavors impose themselves on top of it. It falls some way short of real excellence but is not without merit - 13
