Michael Schuster: (bottled 2004) Lustrous pale tawny; a fine, complex, aromatic, gently nutty nose, with that touch of caramel here, too; lovely to smell; concentrated, lively wine, with a firm but not incisive acidity, rather like an old dry Amontillado; long, fresh, fine flavor, keen and dry, with but the barest hint of sweetness. Prolonged, nutty, aromatic, and complex to taste, with a splendid harmony for a Sercial, without the obtrusively incisive acidity that there is in many. Long, graceful, refined, and concentrated middleweight, with a fine, nutty persistence reflecting the bouquet. Excellent Sercial. Now and for decades. 18
