Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Slightly perfumed nose. Good acid/fruit balance, with some evolution and a medium-long finish, thanks to good structure. But there’s interesting fruit there, too. Drink from 2014. 16
Stephen Brook: Slightly stewed nose, black cherries, and a hint of rubber. Fairly rich but a bit slack, solid but lacks energy, and it’s a bit too overripe and jammy for my taste. There’s good tannic support, but I would find this cloying and one-dimensional with food. Quite good length, and the finish is a bit flat. Not a bad wine but not my idea of a fine Brunello. 14
Andrew Jefford: Deep, clear black-red. Plenty of aromatic action here, yet this has a slightly toffee/minty style, which means it is not one of the thoroughbreds of the tasting. Open, tangy; a simple, round-contoured wine with natural concentration and impact but little refinement, texture, seduction, or finesse. 11
