John Gilman: Château La Grave was showing very well at the time of my visit to the Moueix offices. The bouquet is deep, pure, and classically Pomerol as it offers up scents of plums, black cherries, chocolate, cigar wrappers, lovely soil tones, and a touch of violet in the upper register. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied, plush on the attack, and ripely tannic. The wine shows off a fine spine of minerality, with sound acids, lovely focus, and good length and grip on the finish. Very 1982-like and very pretty. 2017–40. 17
