John Gilman: Château de Malle is quite good this year, with just a touch of back-end heaviness keeping its score down, despite the lovely complexity of the nose and attack. The bouquet is quite classy and nicely glazed, delivering a blend of pineapple, apple, honeycomb, a nice touch of chalky soil, spring flowers, and discreet vanillin oak. On the palate, the wine is deep, fullish, and quite complex on the attack, with a good core, solid acidity, and really quite good length and grip on the finish. However, the high sugars of the vintage seem to have given the back end here a slightly heavy aspect that does not really harm it in a comparison of 2010 Sauternes but would make the wine stick out like a sore thumb in a lineup that included examples from 2009 or 2007. But really quite a good example of the 2010 vintage. 2012–25+. 16
