Tim Atkin: Thick, dense, almost opaque color. High alcohol, masses of coconutty oak. Ribera meets Barossa again. Good fruit but way too ripe and rich. Aimed at the US market? Slightly sweet, Porty, and coconutty. Huge wine, but you’d tire of this after one glass. 13
Jesús Barquín: Deep cherry, almost opaque. Very serious nose: notes of tobacco, smoked meats, jammy black fruit; powerful tannins; long, harmonious, serious, with a long life ahead. 17.5
Alex Hunt: Fully saturated color—barely any evolution—and fully saturated with new wood as well. Not subtle. There is actually extremely engaging fresh berry fruit at the heart of this wine. It is genuinely concentrated and refined. Why did it have to be bludgeoned with so much wood in the winery? A crying shame. 14
