BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Opaque, vibrant purple. Crimson rim. Slightly baked notes on the nose of plum jam and licorice. Palate a little raw, but no denying the fruit here, which is sweet if slightly confected. A decent quaffing Ribera but not a lot of structure here. 14

Jesús Barquín: Medium to deep cherry. Intense blackberry nose, with smoky notes. The palate shows good balance, with earthy, almost chewy tannins; fleshy, long. 15

Alex Hunt: Very attractive forest-fruit aromas, but a little stinky and reduced. (Probably something that is more noticeable in a flight than where the wine is served on its own, however.) At present, the palate is compact and on the short side. Structurally, the balance is good, and so this should open out in a year or two—but its precise potential is too hidden to be fathomed at this stage. 14
