Tim Atkin: Mid-ruby/purple. Fruity, up-front, brambly. Nice Ribera freshness on the palate, with appealing cherry and blackberry fruit. Well-integrated oak. Quite a refined, delicate style. Possibly a little lacking in profundity, but a good drink. 15.5
Jesús Barquín: Medium to deep cherry, turning slightly to ruby. The nose shows oak notes in the vanilla, aniseed, and soft toasty notes. Well-structured, but again the oak notes dominate this early stage. There is good fruit; let’s wait and see if it finally takes control of the wine. 13.5
Alex Hunt: Paler color than many—though no shrinking violet—and a lighter nose more on strawberries than black fruit. At first, the oak dominates this gentle aroma, though they do coalesce a bit in the glass. In the mouth, the wine is well knit and relatively soft. The fruit is simple, however, and winsome as it is, but I can’t help wishing for more depth, complexity, and power. 13
