Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth, oak coming through on nose. Acidity on the low side; good-quality fruit, but it drops away toward the end - 14
Stephen Brook: Very deep brick red. Muted nose, black cherries, plums, with no secondary aromas. Broad, juicy, accessible, and creamy, with robust tannins and fair acidity. It’s quite blunt overall and lacks a little freshness and zip. Solid and imposing, rather than elegant. It clearly has the structure to evolve further, even if the tannins are quite grippy on the finish. That initial approachability turns out to be illusory - 15
Jancis Robinson: Smudgy color. Alluring sweet violet aromas. Very dry finish. Painfully dry and tart at the moment, like pure walnut skin! I honestly find it very difficult to judge whether the fruit will hold out while those tannins soften. I’m giving the wine the benefit of the doubt. There is some purity here. Drink 2016–23 - 17
